Kristi Sturgeon holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Tulsa and a Master of Music from the University of Oklahoma where she studied with Dr. David Etheridge. During her career, she has performed with many area ensembles, including the Tulsa Philharmonic, the Signature Symphony, the Starlight Band, and in various
venues in the Tulsa area as a freelance musician. From 1993 to 2014, Kristi maintained a private studio at Owasso High School. From 2000-2017, she played in the Ft. Smith
Symphony in Ft. Smith, Arkansas as the group’s bass clarinetist; she can be heard playing on three of the cds the orchestra has recorded on the NAXOS label. Currently, she is the clarinet instructor at the University of Tulsa (since 2012) and Tulsa Community College (since 2014). Her largest group of private students is from Skiatook Public
Schools, although she teaches other area students as well. When not playing, she can be found at home in her vegetable garden, caring for air plants, or enjoying life with her husband, two sons, and Dachshund.
